2008 Front Runners to Take The Blow

With all the recent rumblings of who will be running for U.S. President in 2008 I thought this is a perfect time to shed some light on the real political strategies in play. Many bloggers and media folk alike are giddy with the presumption that the 2008 political contenders are now out in the open. In my political experience I ask you to reconsider what you think you see in the media as to who may be running for U.S. President in 2008.

The candidates with the most power and influence have not yet begun to swing the political bat at the media, influence the general public, nor file an exploratory committee with the FEC. Great political minds know that the media demolishes political lives through their in depth background research and at times drudging up the mere appearance of skeletal closet improprieties. So I ask you why would these supposed front runners now in the press want to partake of a long run of media hits on their campaign that could erode their public opinion well before the Iowa Caucuses in January of 2008?

Ponder for a moment the fact that in order to prove yourself worthy of being considered for the short list of Vice Presidential candidates you first must raise an inordinate amount of money for the "Party" Democrat or Republican with in a short election cycle. Some plausible Presidential candidates have been raising funds in PACs since the day after GW Bush won re-election in 2004. As well potential Vice Presidential candidates must display an amazing firm policy presence before the ravenous media and then coordinate a country wide grassroot effort to finally secure 270 electoral votes.

My consensus is that the Neapolitan flavor of candidates you see in the media before you today like Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney are not the front runners; they are the extreme money makers. Check out how much the hourly speaking engagement retainer that President Clinton rakes in. If the Clinton's get out on the trail separately the RNC may have a significant stretch at losing their fundraising records. The All-Star Political hitters are waiting in the wings avoiding the extreme media hits. These big hitters will have a wide variety of Vice Presidential candidates to harvest from that have set up exploratory and Presidential committees to funnel large amounts of money into a larger Presidential campaign.

Personally I am ready for a woman and/or a Mormon President. However is a woman and/or Mormon President electable? Has our nation come far enough to vote for a historical precedent setting President?
